5.0 out of 5 stars the perfect clipless pedal, August 20, 2010
This review is from: Shimano PD-M545 SPD Dual Platform Pedal (Sports)
the only thing not perfect about them is that if you're wearing regular shoes and the pedal or shoes are wet, these are fairly slippery. Otherwise, mine have about 30k miles on them (by me alone) and I am the second owner. The bearings are still well adjusted and smooth. I use them on my touring bike/commuter. Shimano products are far superior to most of what competitors offer and replacement cleats are available everywhere.

I have heard that some shoes have tread that interferes with the aluminum body of these pedals. I have not experienced this, but surely worst case scenario you can cut off the bit of offending tread.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great clip and platform pedals, March 25, 2011
This review is from: Shimano PD-M545 SPD Dual Platform Pedal (Sports)
These pedals are great and so easy to get into and out of. Also, other people that do not have clip in shoes can ride the bicycle. The purchase went very smoothly. The price was excellent compared to bike store prices. Love the pedals and think they are well worth the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin', February 13, 2012
This review is from: Shimano PD-M545 SPD Dual Platform Pedal (Sports)
These pedals install easily - just make sure you tighten them down all the way.

They are easy to click into/out of.

The best part is the heavy cage around them. Obviously not something you would want if you're trying to save ounces. But, if you're like me and you happen to smack rocks every once in a while, they'll protect your pedal from getting destroyed.

They come with the standard 51 cleats (single release). Upgrade to the 56 (multi release) and you won't be sorry you spent the extra $15-20.
